Apartment and Office Building Schlachthausgasse
The design closed the gap in the urban space of the perimeter block
Project info
The crossbar volume, a seven stories complex above ground floor, is composed of an apartment building comprising 82 dwellings, and an office building of approx. 12.000 m². Parking for 260 cars is integrated into the three levels basement.
The two slender segments are arrayed linearly along the street, each being structured around special building components: the striking staircases and a large boardroom emerge sculpturally from the facade as independent elements. These both permit a better use of natural light, and optimize internal functional processes. In the so called “Head Building” is located a youth center of approx. 450 m². The remaining part of the property forms a green patch with pre-existing trees, acoustically isolated from the high traffic Schlachthausgasse.
